White & Case has announced it is retaining 81 per cent of its September 2012 qualifying trainees.
The US firm has offered places to 14 of its 16 trainees due to qualify this autumn, with 13 accepting NQ positions. The result reveals a slight drop in its newly qualified (NQ) retention rate compared to September 2011, when the firm held onto 15 out of 16 NQs (9 January 2012).
The firm also posted a rate of 94 per cent in March 2012, keeping 15 out of 16 trainees.
Training principal Philip Stopford said: “As a truly global firm, it’s essential that we continue to attract and retain young lawyers of the highest calibre and continually support their development.”
The news follows Ashurst revealing an NQ retention rate of 83 per cent for its September 2012 qualifiers, keeping 24 of 29 trainees (11 July 2012).
