Olswang has notched up a 100 per cent retention rate, with all eight of its spring qualifiers choosing to stay on at the firm after being offered NQ jobs.
Seven of eight trainees take up newly qualified positions in the London office while the last will join the Thames Valley real estate team.
The London appointments will see two trainees each qualify into the the media, communications and technology and commercial litigation departments. The remaining three will join the corporate, IP and tax groups.
The firm’s rate is a marked improvement on recent form, with only 22 of the firm’s previous 34 qualifiers (65 per cent over three intakes) kept on. As well as cancelling its 2013 recruitment round (8 Feb 2011), the firm has halved the number of trainees it recruits and will take 12 annually from this year. It is also one of the most prominent firms to have signed up to take occasional trainees from Accutrainee (20 Sep 2011).
Olswang graduate recruitment and development specialist Katharine Banbury said: “We’re really proud that the efforts of our trainees have been able to be rewarded.”
“It’s been our aim over the last few years to get a better match between the numbers of trainees and the number of NQ places. It’s a long game and one which we are committed to - we must not take our eye off the ball.”
