Scots paralegal qualification launched
A brand new professional qualification has been introduced for paralegals based north of the border.
The move, which was announced by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and the Scottish Paralegal Association (SPA) last week, will enable paralegals to work toward a number of new awards such as a Higher National Certificate, Higher National Diploma or Professional Development Awards.
Christine Lambie, president of the SPA said in a statement: Paralegals play an increasingly important role in the provision of legal services in Scotland. Whether individuals are employed by small rural firms or multi-national corporations the SQA qualifications offer all paralegals an opportunity to emphasise their professionalism and ability.
Paralegals will also soon be able to register with the Law Society of Scotland, giving them a professional status.

When I was on the hunt for a training contract I was only interested in applying to the big boys. For me it was the magic circle or nothing. In stark contrast my younger brother’s heart was set on specialising in sports law.
