Norton Rose has raised trainee salaries by over £1000 while adding Sydney and Perth to its trainee rotation.
First-year trainee salaries have increased from £37,000 to £38,000 while second year trainees have seen a rise from £41,500 to £43,000. Newly qualified solicitors have also seen an increase, from £60,000 to £61,500.
In addition, from October 2012 two trainees will have the chance to be sent to the firm’s Perth or Sydney offices as part of their rotation, while two Australian trainees will be sent to the London office.
The firm’s trainee rotation currently enables them to spend four months of their two-year training contract in international offices in either Asia, the Middle East or Europe.
Sarah Kelly, head of recruitment at Norton Rose, said: “From October, the London trainee rotation program will open up so that trainees can spend a seat in one of our Australian offices for the first time - and Australian graduates will be able to gain valuable experience in our London or Asia offices. This will further strengthen our knowledge, skill base and cultural alignment across the international business”.
This follows the news that Shearman & Sterling is rolling out two new international secondments for its trainee solicitors (19 June 2012).
