Magic circle law firm Linklaters has posted an 87 per cent newly qualified (NQ) lawyer retention rate.
A total of 69 trainees were due to qualify with Linklaters this month (August) but only 68 applied for positions, out of whom 63 received offers. However, only 60 NQs accepted roles with the firm.
Like many others, Linklaters’ retention rates have dramatically improved during the current qualification round. Earlier this year the firm shed 27 per cent of its spring 2010 qualifiers (read more).
Linklaters’ NQ retention rate has beaten that of magic circle rivals Allen & Overy and Clifford Chance, which each held onto 79 per cent of their autumn 2010 qualifiers.
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, meanwhile, posted the best NQ retention figure in the magic circle with a rate of 89 per cent.
